Mid-Atlantic fruit ripe: Autust - October

Common Hackberry's bark is recognizable by its deep furrows and corky ridges or warty appearance. It is a long-lived tree that typically grows 40 to 60 feet tall but can reach 130 feet in ideal conditions. Its fruit is a pea-sized drupe with edible sweet flesh.
