Mid-Atlantic bloom time: May - August
Mid-Atlantic fruit ripe: August - October

Whorled Loosestrife's flowers are about 1 cm across, with each flower stem arising from just above each 2–7 (usually four) whorled leaves. The flowers are circular and flattened, and the petals lightly streaked with black and red at the base. Compare Whorled Loosestrife with Fringed Loosestrife (Lysimachia ciliata), which has broader leaves that aren't in whorls.
